EASE v4.19 and earlier used 2-digit years, with 00 being reserved for 'Unknown year' and all other values (01 thru 99) being in the 20th century (1901 thru 1999). This obviously will cause problems when you try to enter a date in the 21st century, as you have probably already seen if you tried to use EASE this year.EASE v4.20 allows 4-digit years, thus allowing you to enter dates in either the 20th or 21st century.
But that's not all! Network-aware: EASE v4.20 is network-aware, and works with Windows 95/98 networks, as well as other popular network systems. (Prior versions did not work at all on Windows 95/98 networks, and did not work very well over other networks.)
Other new features in EASE v4.20 Additional Windowstm support: EASE v4.20 integrates better with Microsoft Windows than earlier versions did. You can even use the Windowstm clipboard in EASE.
Additional label-printing options: EASE v4.20 allows you to select the characters/inch and lines/inch to use when printing mailing labels (if your printer allows), and it allows you to select which row and column to start printing at when printing sheet-fed labels. You can also now opt to print Envelope Numbers on mailing labels instead of POSTNET barcodes where appropriate.
Bulk-mail Periodicals-class sorting: EASE v4.20 implements the latest USPS bulk-mail sorting rules for Periodicals-class mailings.
Prior-year pledges: The handling of prior-year pledges has been improved, so you can take prior-year pledge payments even if the contributor no longer pledges to that fund.
Contribution Statements: You can now print contribution statements for any quarter, even if contributions have been posted for later months, and only those contributions made up to that quarter will be included in that statement.
Denomination-specific Annual Financial Reports: There is now a Summary report which lists how each account number is used in the preparation of your Denomination-specific Annual Financial Report, thus allowing you to quickly verify how the information in the Annual Financial Report was computed.
W-2 forms: You can now designate separately which "Taxable Wages" boxes each Allowance or Deduction is to be included in, and you can now specify what is to be included in Box 13 of the W-2 form.
Year-end Closing: A menu option has been added which allows you to quickly and easily copy your year-end data to another directory without exiting the EASE program and going to a DOS prompt.
Expense checks: If you pay the same amount to a payee each time, you may now store that default amount in the Vendor file, so it will be filled in automatically every time you write a check to that vendor, and you can now add new names to the Vendor file directly from the Checkwriting or Disbursements entry screen.
Increased capacity: The capacity of the Chart of Accounts has been increased from 800 to 1200 accounts.
Multiple-fund Summary & Subaccounts: Summary accounts and subaccounts can now exist in more than one fund, thus allowing you to generate subtotals spanning multiple funds on your Financial Statements.
